PCALCS - Performance Calculations Module 

About PCALCS

Traditional control systems allow you to operate based on the current data. However, they are not able to monitor the performance of the power plant in a greater range of time. PCALCS module provides instant access to key performance parameters at every plant level, from individual components to the entire system. This means that the module can be installed in a power plant that has different DCS systems and can unify them into a single, central location. 

 

The solution is based on a thorough knowledge of the energy sector and therefore allows to design a fully programmable solution for global monitoring performance system. This package calculates the KPIs and used for recording, monitoring and forecasting purposes, also includes a complete study of collecting specific plant data. PCALCS reduces operating costs by monitoring the loss of unit heat rate by comparing the deviations from design equipment performance. As a result, plant personnel can make adjustments in order to reduce these losses.

 

PCALCS module can be used for any type of DCS class system supporting an OPC server. This means that the module can be installed in a power plant that has different DCS systems and can unify them into a single, central location. 


Our solution based on a thorough knowledge of the energy sector allows to design a fully programmable solution for global monitoring performance system. This package also includes a complete study of collecting specific plant data. Thanks to them, we can configure the performance modules based on the ASME Performance Test Codes, European norms or other industry standards. The calculations are configured based on the mass and energy balance in a technological system.

PCALCS Features

Specific Plant Processes blocks

PCALCS includes predefined solutions for individual elements of the power plant. Depending on the type of power plants, its structure and the available data. The following information and data will be recorded and used for PCALCS.

Accuracy of acquired data

The results calculated by PCALCS ensure accuracy. Each solution requires specific data that are collected by the EDS system as analog and digital points. The analog values are averaged within a certain time range, which can be modified. In the case of the quality of calculated values, PCALCS promotes them in assessing the quality of the entry points.

Performance monitoring diagrams

Diagrams performance monitoring system display the results obtained from the calculations of PCALCS and are available in the system EDS for each user with properly configured permissions. Graphics are configured to be able to reflect the scheme of the plant.

Presentation of results

In addition to supervising the data within the DCS and EDS systems, using the features of Web Portal we are able to obtain a secure access to actual and historical data of PCALCS’s results.
